Social Commitment

RED’s basic philosophy is that good business should be coupled with meaningful societal responsibility. A successful project for us is one that we can follow up with social commitment.

With my own history coming as a refugee from Chile in the 1970s, I have a strong sense of justice. The value of what each person can do for another or for a better world is part of our DNA. Since the beginning, my vision with our company has been based on this value premise and means that every time we succeed, this should result in something positive for someone or something beyond RED.

Since 2009, we have engaged with several humanitarian organisations in various contexts around the world with the aim of contributing to making a difference. RED has worked with organisations such as SOS Children’s Villages, Hand in Hand, Amnesty, Save the Children, the Red Cross and the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. Major commitments have sometimes been made, but also those on a lesser scale such as Christmas donations.

In my position as owner and founder of RED, I am most proud of being able to summarise the results of our work in three major commitments that have concretely contributed to positive change for many people,” says Ronald Rico, CEO and founder of RED.

Through a partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, RED financed the construction of a new children’s home in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The children’s home was completed in 2018, and we have followed its development since then.

Through its partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, RED carried out a field trip to Santa Cruz in Bolivia, where we received closer insight into SOS Children’s Villages’ local operations in Santa Cruz and La Paz. During the trip, we had the opportunity of meeting the people behind this incredible project that is being conducted through SOS Children’s Villages. Through its support to SOS Children’s Villages, RED has financed the construction of a children’s home in district 12 in Santa Cruz, the poorest district in the area. The construction of the children’s home was completed and is now home to children who have lost the care of their parents and who have now been provided with a safe home and a family. We at RED are proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to the valuable work that SOS Children’s Villages is doing for vulnerable children.

SOS Children’s Villages is a global children’s rights organisation that is active in 135 countries. SOS Children’s Villages works across the world for every child’s right to grow up in safety.

Through its collaboration with the organisation Hand in Hand, RED carried out two projects in India in villages of Alanda in Odisha and Piplya Khut in Madya Pradesh.

The projects in the villages, with Hand in Hand’s “help to self-help” model, focus on creating the prerequisites for lasting development with a focus on female entrepreneurship. Major initiatives are also carried out for the villagers in the fields of health, schooling, a citizen centre, the environment and the elimination of child labour.

In 2013, RED commenced its first partnership together with Hand in Hand Sweden. In 2014, representatives of RED travelled to Alanda in India to see how the village had developed with the help of the organisation Hand in Hand. After experiencing first-hand the change that Hand in Hand’s work had for the people there, it was an easy decision to sponsor another village project. In April 2016, RED commenced its second collaboration with Hand in Hand Sweden through its Village Upliftment Program, this time in the Piplya Khut village in Madya Pradesh, India. The projects were carried out over the course of two years.

Hand in Hand Sweden is a non-profit organisation that works with entrepreneurship as an efficient, long-term and sustainable way to combat poverty.
